Excellent location, excellent hotel
The hotel is a 3 minute walk to the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. It is one block from the #397 bus which runs every 7 minutes to and from the airport and takes about 30 minutes. The hotel is one block from the #2 Tram that runs right through the city ending up at Central Station. Most important for it's guests, it's located on a quiet street which is wonderful during the day to get away from the busy city noise, but even more important at night when sleeping.
As good as ever
We’d stayed here before pre-Covid, and it lived up to our memory. Aside from the obvious benefits of a brilliant location, the staff are unfailingly friendly and professional. As a couple of people have noted, you need to take note of room size when booking. Our room was compact but comfortable and well-equipped. Let’s face it - when you’re in Amsterdam you want to be out and about, so we didn’t need a spacious room. There’s also a comfortable lounge by Reception, so if you want a relaxing sit down with a drink the option is there.
Great Location Disappointing Experience
Disappointing Liked · I've stayed here before and the staff were helpful as ever. I like the location. it really is great or the museums. Disliked · The room was too small. So small that the bathroom door could not open fully as it was impeded by the bed. It was ridiculously small. There was nowhere to hang long clothing such as coats or dresses. The wardrobe consisted of a cupboard above the fridge and the safe, with four hangers. The shower was tiny with a plastic shower curtain. This was NOT a four star hotel room. I was shown two other rooms on the day I arrived after we had checked in to the room, but they weren't much better. I remain puzzled as to how we got a larger room when we stayed last year. We used the same booking website but this time we are told that we had booked a smaller room. We had been warned that there would be disruption due to the refurbishment works taking place, so I make no particular complaint about this, except I was not happy to emerge from the shower at 8.00am one morning to find a contractor working on my bedroom window.
